Description of Company / Organisation

Cardigan Bay supports a rich variety of marine wildlife, the rare and ever playful Bottlenose dolphin being just one of them. Together with the valuable habitats on which they rely, this makes the Bay an outstanding and internationally important marine environment.

In recognition of the importance of these valuable natural assets, parts of the Bay have been selected as a candidate Special Areas of Conservation (cSAC) - a European designation that will help to ensure that the area and its wildlife are safeguarded for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations.

Ceredigion’s Marine Conservation Code of Conduct: due to the potential impacts of increasing boat traffic on the local Bottlenose dolphin population and other wildlife in the area, a Marine Conservation Code of Conduct was launched in 1993. The Code is available on the website or at Harbour Offices and Tourist Information Centre’s and we actively encourage coastal users to familiarise themselves with it in order to ensure they are acting within the laws set up to protect wildlife.

We thank you in advance for your valuable contribution to protecting our local wildlife.
